Dachshund

The Dachshund is built low to the ground, with a long muscular body and short legs. Originally bred as a hunting dog, this hound has an excellent sense of smell and is well suited for below groundwork and beating the bush for quarry. The Dachshund is bold, intelligent, and courageous to the point of rashness. They have become so popular over the years that they are now available in two sizes and three coats. Dachshunds 11 pounds and under at maturity are considered miniature, while the Standard Dachshund is usually between 16 and 32 pounds. The coat varieties are smooth, long and wirehair.
